Silver Frith

Silver was attracted to yoga in the early 1970’s because of the advertised claim that the practice would bring health and peace. With no local teachers, Silver pursued a decade of solitary exploration and practice, after which she was asked by her community to share her knowledge of yoga. Her experience with her students, along with her deep enjoyment of the teaching process, led her to the Kripalu Center in 1988, where she achieved a series of certifications: Holistic Health Educator (1988), Kripalu Yoga Instructor (1989), Advanced Kripalu Yoga Teacher (1990), and Professional Level (500-hour) Kripalu Yoga Instructor (2000). From 1989 to 1994, she assisted in a number of programs at Kripalu Center. Silver’s lifelong yoga journey continued with intensive study at Yasodhara Ashram beginning in  2007 where she became certified as a Yasodhara Yoga Teacher in Hatha Yoga (2011), Kundalini Yoga (2012), Dream Yoga (2012) and Hidden Language of Hatha Yoga (2013).

Silver served as Co-Director of AYTT from 2002 – 2010, and continues to teach the Ayurveda module every year and share her love of chanting. She received Certification in Ayurvedic Studies, Level 3, from Dr. Vasant Lad of the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico in 1994. In addition, as founder of Body.Mind.Energy: Holistic Services (1988- 2016), Silver has offered classes, workshops, and retreats as well as holistic counselling for a private clientele. A long-time singer/songwriter, she was introduced to Mantra Chanting at Kripalu Center in 1988, and has offered evenings of chanting and yoga regularly since that time. Silver is also a visual artist in the media of photography, drawing, painting, and sculpture, has a Diploma from the Holland College School of Visual Arts, and has studied at NSCAD University in Halifax.  She currently divides her time between studying and teaching at Yasodhara Ashram, and offering yoga classes and Satsang in Halifax.
