John is a multi-instrumentalist and skilled musician, photographer and yogi.  He trained in the Kripalu tradition through AYTT in 2005 and has been teaching ever since in various capacities, including as co-founder of the Fall River Yoga Centre in Fall River, Nova Scotia with wife and partner in all things, Michelle. Now residing in Saskatoon, their current expression includes an online, on-demand yoga studio, Yoga With John and Michelle where they enjoy co-leading experiences designed around themes related to the heart of yoga - on and off the mat.  Their in-person and online classes and workshops merge traditional yoga, sacred sound, chanting and meditation with other intentional practices.  John and Michelle have offered Bhakti and Nada yoga experiences (yoga of devotion and sacred sound) at home and abroad. Joining dear friends, Pierre and Maryse as SuryaChandra - a music ensemble that explores the transformational power of sound through devotional chants and Kirtan – they have recorded two musical albums and shared Kirtan across North America, including onstage at Bhaktifest, California.

 

In addition to his personal and yoga teaching practice, John has enjoyed decades of experience in the world of private enterprise as an IT Business Analyst and in the field of Corporate Sustainability. Currently retired, he enjoys life in Saskatoon where he spends time with family and takes pleasure in sharing passions and interests that range from creating online yoga videos, mala-making  and photography.

John and Michelle are honoured to have studied with and been inspired by amazing teachers locally and abroad including Jody Myers, Silver Frith, Divya Prabha, Jo-Anne Cusack, Yogendra Mishra, Yogi Amrit Desai, “Open”/Openhand, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Lorin Roche, Shiva Rea, Sean Corn and Saul David Raye. The foundation of their yoga practice is rooted in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the Vijana Bhairava Tantra.
