Sunrise over the Wheat Field

Michelle Coleman

Lead Teacher, AYTT, MSc., E-RYT200 / RYT500*

A modern-day mystic, yogini, writer, ritual artist and Reiki practitioner, Michelle delights in creating inspiring experiences that invite people into their hearts, celebrating and honoring all that they are.

Most days you can find her blissfully sharing the mat with hubby, John. Both are Kripalu-trained E-RYTs (through AYTT) who offer experiences that merge the traditional modalities of yoga, sacred sound, chanting, meditation and other intentional practices. As members of SuryaChandra, a music ensemble that explores the transformational power of sound through devotional chants and Kirtan, they have recorded two musical albums and travelled sharing yoga and kirtan across North America, including at Bhaktifest, California. It has also been a joy to tour and offer mantric magic as part of Gentle Warrior Sacred Song Ceremonies with UK-born singer-songwriter, Jont.

After several years as successful studio-owners in Nova Scotia, Canada, they turned in their keys for their current expression: an online studio, Yoga With John and Michelle, which offers an on-demand video experience for students, world-wide.

In addition to being a dedicated yogini, over the last 30 years, Michelle has had the pleasure of serving as a registered dietitian and public health professional, facilitator of authentic and transformational leadership and university researcher and lecturer. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Science in Experimental Medicine from the University of Alberta. *She is currently in the process of completing her 500-hour yoga teacher certification.

Michelle and John are honoured to have studied with and been inspired by amazing teachers locally and abroad including Jody Myers, Silver Frith, Divya Prabha, Jo-Anne Cusack, Yogendra Mishra, Yogi Amrit Desai, “Open”/Openhand, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Lorin Roche, Shiva Rea, Sean Corn and Saul David Raye. The foundation of their yoga practice is rooted in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the Vijana Bhairava Tantra.

"I remain dedicated to nourishing the deep power, collective wisdom and limitless potential of my fellow humans, by creating loving spaces of trust and authenticity.”

Michelle currently lives in Saskatoon with her hubby and partner in all things, John. You can find them at www.johnandmichelleyoga.com
